Why were the 47 arrested? Put in plain language, they organised an unofficial primary election to impose the result on all the various parties and factions of the Opposition, to eliminate competition in the election. The objective was to seize the majority of the seats in the Legislative Council with the declared purpose of indiscriminately voting down all government motions put to the Legislative Council, thus paralysing and bringing down the government, unless, the government agrees to, among other demands, the unconstitutional universal suffrage election, that is, election without the stipulated nominating committee nomination. The primary (election) took place after the National Security Act had come into force. Again, they asked for it.
為何47名反對派人士被拘捕？簡單來說，他們組織了非官方的初選，企圖將結果強加於所有反對派政黨及派系身上，消除選舉中的競爭。初選目的是奪取立法會大多數議席，據他們所說，這樣他們便可無差別否決所有政府提交立法會的議案，達致癱瘓和推翻特區政府，除非政府同意實現他們所提出的違憲的普選訴求等，即是沒有法定提名委員會參與提名的特首選舉。這個初選是在「港區國安法」生效後舉行的。再一次，他們是咎由自取的。
